Health Camp

As part of the field assignment of M.Sc (Community Nursing) students of National Institute of Nursing and Education (NINE), PGIMER Chandigarh, they organized a health mela in Ratewali village in PHC Kot, district Panchkula, Haryana on 27-01-2009 in collaboration with PHC Kot, CHC Raipurani and School of Public, PGIMER Chandigarh. The theme of the health meal was “get yourself screened for poor vision and malnutrition”. Children in the age group of <6 years were assessed for low eight for age, while for adults were examined for over weight and obesity.  A total of 183 people came for the camp and free medicines were distributed for their ailments. The common diseases were respiratory system (15%), Joint pain (10%), Headache (7.5%), Skin (6.5%), Anemia (5%) and others (12%). Nursing students gave demonstration on preparation of nutritious laddoo for under weight children and weaning foods for children >6 months of age.  Dr. Star Pala, Senior Resident from School of Public Health, Dr. Sushma Lecturer (NINE), one ophthalmic assistant & one optician from CHC Raipurani also participated in the health camp.
