Dr. Rajesh Kumar was elected Chief Editor
of Indian Journal of Community Medicine. He received Dr. R. N. Roy Memorial Best
Paper Award for his research paper published in the Indian Journal of Public
Health. He delivered Dr. B. C. Dasgupta Memorial Oration “Making Right to Health
a Reality in India” in 50th All India Annual Conference of Indian Public Health
Association, 19 to 21 January 2007, Kolkata. He was invited as a speaker in the
16th International AIDS Conference, 13 to 18 August 2006, Toronto, and also
delivered a lecture in the National Conference on Research in HIV/AIDS, 21 to 23
April 2006, New Delhi and in the International Expert Group Meeting on National
Rural Health Mission organized by the Earth Institute, Columbia University, 2
August 2006, New Delhi. He chaired a scientific session in 34th National
Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM), 22
to 24 February 2007, New Delhi, 13th Annual Symposium of Ranbaxy Science
Foundation on Impact of Lifestyle on Cardiovascular Health, 20 March 2007, New
Delhi and in the Workshop on Choosing Health: An Opportunity for India organized
by the Centre for Global Health Research Toronto, 5 to 6 January 2007, New
Delhi. WHO SEARO appointed him as Temporary Advisor in the National Capacity
Strengthening Workshop for Program Managers on Integrated Prevention and Control
of Non Communicable Diseases, 12 to 16 March 2007, Kathmandu. Govt. of India
selected him for the Technical Resource Group on HIV Surveillance and
Estimation, and ICMR nominated him to Indo-US Joint Working Group on Maternal
and Child Health, Steering Committee of National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau and
to the Scientific Advisory Group of the Division of Reproductive Health and
Nutrition.
